About Leanne
Leanne is a sociocultural theorist of schooling and education. She is interested in nuanced approaches towards understanding and responding to the complexities of education as a social and cultural institution.
After a career in secondary teaching at a boys’ school, and completion of her master’s thesis in education, Leanne commenced her PhD at the Melbourne Graduate School of Education, University of Melbourne. She is also a graduate of Monash University, taking degrees in History, Law, and Education.
In January 2020, Leanne commenced as a Lecturer in Education at La Trobe University. She teaches a postgraduate course in gender and education in the Master of Education degree, and honours level courses in ethical professional practice; humanities and social sciences education, and permeable classrooms within initial teacher education programs.
Leanne is an introvert who loves cats, coffee, snowboarding, pilates, yin yoga, science fiction, synthwave and video games.
