New publication! Attending to slow violence: From Pride to Stand Out

My latest article, ‘Attending to slow violence: From Pride to Stand Out’ has just been published in The Australian Educational Researcher, the journal for the Australian Association for Research in Education (AARE).

For those who might have made it to my symposium presentation at the AARE conference in Melbourne last November, this article is the full version of that paper. This article is one of nine articles that form a special issue on Gender and Schooling I have been guest editing with Prof Susanne Gannon (Western Sydney) and Dr Erika Smith (Western Sydney). The special issue itself will be published in April 2024.

The article comes from my PhD, drawing on both my theoretical framing of slow violence and nonviolence, and my empirical fieldwork. It explores how slow violence and nonviolence at worked in the move from Pride Club to Stand Out Club in a Melbourne school.
